Environmental issues are important to us
If the scrapped cars are not handled correctly, there is a risk that environmentally hazardous substances would enter the soil. Environment conservation is important to us and that is why we have taken it into account in many different ways.
Before the demolition parts can be utilised, we remove environmentally hazardous parts and substances from the car. Incoming cars are temporarily stored on a surface finished cement slab before the cars are "dried". Proper storage of crash cars in particular is important to prevent harmful substances from entering the environment.
The "drying" of the cars is done in warm reception areas with a strong cement floor and equipment for collecting harmful substances. In these facilities we among other things recover windshield washer fluids, antifreeze, brake fluids, oils and fuels. Because the facilities are warm, removal of substances is possible at any time of the year.
The actual storage of hazardous waste (oils, antifreezes, brake fluids, batteries, etc.) takes place in a locked environmental container. The container has its own tanks for different wastes and if they happen to leak, the container has an integrated drainage basin that prevents the substance from entering the environment. The tanks in the container are emptied at regular intervals.
In the event of an oil spill, we have powder which absorbs oil stains, etc. The absorbed waste is placed in an environmental container to await removal.
Once the car is "dried", disassembly of the car parts will begin. In the same time, the most important demolition parts are also stored in the stock records and the parts are stored. Once the car is dismantled, the car body is taken to an outdoor warehouse to await partial sale or further processing.
We have, just in case, built a pipeline with oil separation wells for the outdoor storage area.
We also try to recycle stock quickly so that demolition cars can be further processed as soon as possible. Removal of old car bodies is done several times a year. The car bodies are delivered to Pori for further processing.
